The daughter of Colombian immigrants, Cristina was born in New York. Growing up, she lived in many areas ranging from one of the poorest neighborhoods of New York City, to the big city of Guadalajara, Mexico, to the border town of San Ysidro, California to Hartford, Connecticut, and then back to California, which she has now called home for over twenty years. |

My mission in life is to help all individuals celebrate and find strength in their own unique identity. This means embracing all the wonderful aspects of who you are – personally, professionally, and culturally. Finding strength in your identity is a message I bring with me to my TV shows, my speaking engagements (especially to high school and college students), my work in the community, and especially in the pages of my books.

I personally think of writing as a conversation, whether it is with a trusted friend, family member, or a large group of people. My style happens to be pretty informal, but with a structure that helps the reader organize what I am telling them.
